SPOOL TIE

Spool ties are used to replace the hand ties over the armour rods. They are also used to give superior protection against forms of abrasion that come with conductor motion. This happens through high-frequency Aeolian vibration towards low-frequency galloping. The pad that surrounds the conductor is actually a resilient cushion where the conductor touches the insulator. The spool ties without the pads are used for the jacketed conductor.

These are made of aluminium covered steel and the pads are specially formulated elastomers utilized for bare conductors that are identified using the catalogue suffix P. Identification tag uses the catalogue number, nominal conductor size, neck, and conductor size. It consists of a metal tie component and a tie tube which is supplied for abrasion protection with the help of bare conductors.

Function

It is designed for providing superior mechanical strength and resilience in the conductor motion as well as cyclic loading conditions. The longitudinal holding strengths exceed the minimum requirement of the National Electric Safety Code.
